The
Live 8 concerts held on 2, July 2005, were part of a series of global
events where-by musicians from all genres joined together to make a statement
directly to the members of the G8. Their message was clear; They wanted
the G8 to consider making positive choices about debt relief in Africa.
The Live 8 Canada concert was held in the Barrie, Park Place, formally
known as Molson Park, Barrie is about one hour from Toronto. Among the
celebrities were comic Dan Akroyd and movie star Tom Green who arrived
to the Live 8 Canada event on his Harley. Musical acts appearing at the
Live 8 Barrie concert were DobaCaracol featuring Kna'an, Gordon Lightfoot,
Great Big Sea, Jann Arden, Les Trois Accords, Motley Crue, Our Lady Peace,
Sam Roberts, Simple Plan, and The Tragically Hip.
More than 30 top headlining musicians joined the global music extravaganza
at Live 8 Canada.
