Linkin Park at Live 8
Linkin Park is a truly unique band in that they are
not just a Rap, Rock, or Electronica band. Linkin Park compromises of
a veritable mixture of different styles and stylists in music.
On July 2, 2005 in Philadelphia, actress Jennifer Connolly introduced
Linkin Park. Philadelphia's gets a taste of rap-rock as the day begins
with "Crawlin," then onto "Somewhere I Belong."
Before going into "Breaking the Habit," lead singer for Linkin
Park, Chester Bennington aka Chazy Chaz announces, "What an exceptionally
beautiful crowd." Although Linkin Park's choice of the track "In
the End" might not have been wise, (considering the lyrics Linkin
Park sang are not at all related to the concert's cause), the chorus includes,
"I tried so hard and got so far/and in the end, it doesn't even matter."
The Linkin Park fans at Philadelphia gets a double does of Rap-Rock as
Jay-Z joins Linkin Park onstage and jumps into
their collective hit, "Dirt Off Your Shoulders." They followed
next with the lyrically mild version of "Big Pimpin' ".
After thanking the crowd for chanting a request for "H.O.V.A.,"
Linkin Park's Jay-Z acknowledges that, yes, "We havin' a good time
out here, we rockin', we spittin'," then reminds the audience about
the day's focus. Linkin Park finalize thier set by playing a medley of
Jay-Z's "Encore" and Linkin Park's "Numb."
