Live 8 London: UK concert review (cont.)

London Rocks On - Live 8 concert

Next up was a rather slow bunch of songs by the hot Dido. Her pants were not near tight enough as she nearly slowed the crowd to a halt with "White Flag", "Thank You", and "Seven Seconds". I understand that Dido was going to be at Live 8 Paris and Live 8 Cornwall and possibly a couple of the other Live 8 events. A bit like Phil Collins back in 1985 when he took the Concorde from the Live Aid concert at Wembley and then flew to the Live Aid concert in Philadelphia to play drums for Eric Clapton and Led Zeppelin. Too bad Led Zeppelin didn't get together for this event, and boy wouldn't it have been great if Eric Clapton had joined in on Live 8 London?

The Sterophonics were probably one of my favorite bands for Live 8 London. The Stereophonics came on stage after a particularly slow set from Dido and brought the crowd back to life. Kelly Jones of the Stereophonics looked like a total rock god. He was sporting a leather jacket and some cool shades. They are one of my all time favorite's and they certainly didn't disappoint me or the crowd at Live 8 London. They played a great amalgamation of old and new tracks including "Dakota" a super sing-a-long title "Local Boy in the Photograph".

By about this time I am doing the pee-pee dance, but I can't leave because I don't want to miss REM. REM shocked the stage as they did a set of difficult songs. "Everybody Hurts" and "Man on the Moon" are not the easiest to pull off but the audience held them. They have lot of balls to be sure with risky numbers that could have been real duds. But Michael Stipe pranced around the stage with an big blue stripe running across his face. Like a blue long ranger mask, it seemed to be painted across his face.

Ms. Dynamite was up next, but I am headed off to the orange phone booth. You know the nasty Port-o-Lets were lined end to end and by now I was sure that this trip to the bathroom wouldn't be pretty. One thing Londoners is not, is clean. I listened to Ms. Dynamite thru her two numbers "Dy-na-mi-tee" and "Redemption Song".
