The Live
8 video DVD is expected to generate more sales than the one million DVDs
the original Live Aid concert video had sold. The original Live Aid DVD
was so popular that Warner Music released a shortened highlights disc,
in which all profits were shared with the Live Aid charity.
The upcoming Live 8 DVD will be released in November 7, 2005 and will
be be a 4 disc DVD set .
One of the event’s organizers, Bob Geldof, said: “I hope this
will be the biggest selling DVD of all time. It deserves to be.”
According to an EMI Live 8 DVD spokesman, Adam Grossberg declined to provide
details about the LIVE 8 DVD negotiations but said the label did pay a
"multimillion-dollar advance to the Live 8 organization, which helped
make the July 2 concert possible. Once we break even [after resulting
sales], there will be future contributions. It was an exceptionally generous
royalty rate."
